Complete Shipping Solutions has opened a 200,000-square-foot warehouse in Edmonton offering industrial and food-grade storage, Taproot Edmonton reported in its September 18 business roundup. The same roundup notes Komatsu’s American division has doubled its St. Albert parts distribution centre to 135,000 square feet, enabling 24-hour delivery to Western Canadian dealers.
Certified food-grade third-party capacity is a recurring bottleneck for growing food and beverage producers: without it, a new national retail listing or export order can outrun a company’s ability to stage inventory. Fresh capacity in the Edmonton region, alongside global players deepening their Alberta distribution footprint, makes it easier for mid-sized producers to commit to bigger orders without building their own warehouse first.
What it means: If storage or fulfillment capacity has been the reason to defer a distribution expansion — a new province, a national chain listing, or an export program — the infrastructure side of that equation just improved.
