What’s happened.

Two years after the 2024 wildfire, Jasper has put dates on its recovery. Tourism Jasper chief executive Tyler Rebel told a media event that all three in-town hotels destroyed by the fire are expected to be taking guests again by spring 2027, and that other properties have been rebuilt in the meantime. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge reopened in spring 2026 after a reported $100 million renovation. “If you’ve been there before, you need to come back,” Rebel said, which is the line the whole destination will be selling.

Pursuit, one of the larger operators in the town, is spending on two more properties. The second phase of work at Forest Park Hotel, the former Sawridge Inn, finishes in mid-December 2026 and adds new guest rooms and wings, a redesigned lobby, a refreshed exterior and two restaurants, Boreal steakhouse and Aspen Grove Café. Rooms with kitchenettes are aimed at families and longer stays. Lobstick Lodge is being rebuilt in a retro, mid-century style with ski storage and drying rooms, and is tentatively due to reopen in late 2027. Full details are in Travelweek’s report on Jasper’s recovery.

For the rest of the Rockies, this is supply coming back on a schedule. Rooms that have been out of the market since 2024 return in stages through 2027, and they return renovated, with a fresh story and a destination marketing body behind them.

What it means for your business.

If you run a hotel, lodge or tour business in Banff, Canmore or Lake Louise, you have been selling into a market with fewer Jasper beds in it. That changes in stages: more rooms this December, the rebuilt in-town hotels by spring 2027, Lobstick Lodge late 2027 — all of them new or renovated and all of them with a reopening story to tell. Decide now whether you compete on rate or on a reason to choose you, and get your winter and 2027 campaigns in market before Jasper's relaunch push starts.

Next step: Set your 2027 rate and campaign plan this quarter, before Jasper's reopening stories hit the market in December.
