Travel Alberta’s newly released 2025–26 annual report, covered August 20, confirms visitor spending reached $15.2 billion in 2025 — 6% growth, nearly double the national average — against a 2035 target of $25 billion. International momentum is notable: U.S. visitation rose 2%, Germany 19%, and South Korea 44%, helped by screen tourism and air-route investments the agency says returned $7.60 for every dollar spent.

The report also details $19 million invested across 55 communities, with 75% of product-development funding directed outside the major centres — a deliberate push to spread demand beyond Banff and Jasper toward rural and Indigenous experiences.

What it means: The province has committed to growing the pie for another decade. Operators with funded growth plans — new product, new markets, repositioned properties — are rowing with the current, and the international mix shift means marketing that speaks to German, Korean, and U.S. travellers is no longer optional for scaled Alberta operators.
