Edmonton-based Stantec reported a record $9.24 billion in work under contract, up 17.5%, and has been awarded a role on Meta’s $13-billion AI data centre campus in Alberta alongside Clark Builders and PCL Construction. It’s one of the largest private construction undertakings in the province’s recent history, and it lands on top of an already-stretched trades market.

What it means: A project of this scale will absorb engineering capacity, subcontractors, and skilled trades across the region — residential and commercial builders should plan for tighter labour and longer procurement timelines. For architecture, engineering, and construction firms with any connection to data-centre, power, or industrial work, this is the moment to make that capability visible: the ecosystem around this project will be sourcing partners for years.
