The federal Canada Strong Pass — free admission to national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas, plus discounted Parks Canada camping and roofed accommodation — runs out on September 7, 2026, after starting June 19. The program required no sign-up, which means it quietly lowered the cost of every mountain-park trip all summer, including for the record crowds moving through Banff, Jasper and Waterton.
When it expires, park entry fees return for fall visitors at exactly the moment demand naturally shifts to the shoulder season.
What it means: A demand subsidy most guests never consciously noticed disappears in ten days. Operators in and around the mountain parks should expect a sharper-than-usual post–Labour Day drop-off among price-sensitive regional travellers — and the counter-move is happening now, not in October: capture this final long weekend’s guests into your database and hit them with a compelling fall direct-booking reason to return before the habit fades.
