Four Edmonton-area contracting firms — Prairie North Construction, BTO Contracting, Eng-Con Holdings, and Ventura Power and Gas — are merging to form Theoden Infrastructure, a combined operation with roughly 350 employees and more than 250 pieces of equipment, as reported in Taproot Edmonton’s August 26 regional roundup.
The move creates one of the larger independent contracting platforms in the capital region at a moment when infrastructure spending — including the new $938-million Canada–Alberta housing-enabling water infrastructure partnership signed in late July — is set to drive a multi-year pipeline of municipal and utility work across the province.
